In June last year, the company found itself in a similar situation after recalling over 900 YZF-R3 motorbikes in the wake of reports of defects in clutch pressure and oil pump. The Japan-headquartered company was back then forced to issue a clarification that the defect existed only with a few bikes. The high-end motorcycle is one of the costlier in the Indian market, costing over Rs 3 lakh. It has an engine of over 300 CC and is an improvement of Yamaha R6. The newer model of the bike was reported to hit the Indian markets this year.
